PU (polyurethane) is made from a diol and diisocyanate. Compared to all other elastomers, polyurethane elastomers have excellent wear resistance, high tensile strength and high elasticity. Gas permeability is comparatively low. All types of PU are based on a special ester polyol, resistant to hydrolysis and can be used in hot water. Due to the high wear resistance, polyurethane seals are the most commonly used seals today.
